The clients requested a two-bedroom cottage-style house with outdoor living on their compact site.
This 156sqm weatherboard property is the result of the architect and builders’ clever plans to achieve that goal. Their innovations included higher-than standard ceilings and light colours to give the illusion of a grand and luxurious space. This house is made for entertaining. The kitchen is fitted out with quality fixtures, including composite stone benchtops, stainless steel appliances and glass splashbacks.
Moving from the open-plan kitchen, dining and living zones to the outdoor areas is easy and intuitive. The patio is just the place for sipping a morning coffee and on warm summer evenings, the owners can fire up the barbecue in the sheltered courtyard. Alternatively, they can relax in the sunroom and take in the surrounding views. The exterior of the character home – in white timber weatherboards with contrasting moody grey trim and a dark trapezoid metal roof – looks totally at home on its site, and fits the ‘cottage-style’ brief beautifully.
